Large Poinsettia
Cling Mount Rubber Stamp from The Rubber Cafe
Large Poinsettia is a beautifully rendered image featuring a poinsettia, a flower indigenous to Mexico, commonly associated with the celebration of Christmas.
The association with Christmas began with the legend of the poinsettia. A young girl in Mexico was saddened because she was too poor to provide a gift for the celebration of Jesus' birthday. On the way to the church on Christmas Eve, the young girl was consoled by her cousin, who stated that ". . . even the most humble gift, if given in love, will be acceptable in His eyes." Not knowing what else to do, the young girl knelt by the roadside and gathered a handful of common weeds, fashioning them into a small bouquet. When she arrived at the church and placed the bouquet before the nativity scene, the weeds miraculously transformed into beautiful poinsettias.
